Okay, I’m not in love with Poderosa, but it sure beats a hot shower at the end of the day.
For anyone else like me who administers a lot of Linux servers, Secure Shell (SSH) access is a MUST. If I don’t feel like using a Linux server to do administrative tasks, I use Putty for my remote command line administration. Unfortunately I end up having ten Putty sessions open that I have to click between and that can become a nightmare.
But out comes Poderosa to save the day. Poderosa is a nice little program that lets you run tabbed SSH or Telnet for Windows systems. Just install Cygwin and the .NET 2.0 update and get started. Poderosa supports SSH v1 and v2 as well as Telnet. The only thing I’ve run across is an inability to SSH to a Cisco Pix firewall–but maybe I’ll get that worked out.

At first I thought that said “Ponderosa”…like the restaurant, and I was really confused what that had to do with SSH. Then I read it a little closer…hehe. Another tool I use with PuTTY is PuTTYCS (http://www.millardsoftware.com/puttycs/) – a sweet little app that lets you send commands to multiple putty windows at once.
Okay, I definitely thought you meant the restaurant, too. I am so hungry right now that even mentioning food almost made me go postal! I’m totally clueless on all that stuff, but I’ll tell you anything you need to know about insurance…
Sweet. I’ll check that out, D-man. I really hate that PuTTY isn’t tabbed. Drives me batty!
Niki–Long time no see! I could definitely go for some food myself!
