I was reading my blogs through Google Reader yesterday and I found the following article that Wil Wheaton had posted: Seriously. What Would Jesus Do? I’m normally a fan of Wil’s posts until I realized that he’s just as liberal and “main-stream” as our friends at CNN and The New York Times. I like Wil’s writing, his style, and the fact that he updates his blog regularly. He’s a good “geek,” for lack of a better term. Unfortunately, his post spurred me to almost purchase “whyihatewilwheaton.net.” Note: Almost.
Wil admits there is a great stereotype against the word “Christian.” Dominionists; a person or persons who believe in establishing political policies based on religious beliefs. There’s a disjoint between Christianity and Dominionism. The modern Christian is stereotyped as the Bible-thumping rhetoric-spewing intolerant hypocrite. Unfortunately for many of us Christians, a few bad apples help keep this stereotype living and breathing. Wil, let me ask you a question? Do you think a bunch of extremists who grab a Koran and blow up a busy marketplace are better than a group who wish to push a religious agenda in a country that actually gives them that power? Yes, that’s America for you, Wil.
Do you have a monopoly on “people trying to make laws and decisions for you and your family?” As a Christian, a father AND a veteran, how do you think it feels to see the rights that I’ve fought for so trivially used to further the liberal atheist unpatriotic agenda? I WANT my daughter to say the Pledge of Allegiance at school, I want her to say “So Help Me God.” One day she’ll have to “say it on the inside” because of, get this, intolerance of religion, not religious intolerance. Glad to know that I have friends who have fought, bled, and even died for the freedom you have to take my rights away from me. Thanks.
For the record, the Roe vs Wade ruling has nothing to do with a religious agenda. Roe Vs Wade is about a woman’s right to choose what to do with her body. Let me ask you a question; Does the father of the unnamed fetus get a right? He DID provide half of the genetic material. What legal ground does he have? Roe vs Wade is about the government dictating personal choice, not the rightness or wrongness of abortion.
Have you READ the Bible? You seem to have this fantastical knowledge of what Christianity is about. Helping others, charity, taking care of our fellow man. All honorable, worthy goals and aspirations. Christianity is about following Christ, not about how many blankets you can give to a homeless shelter. So a bad Christian doesn’t donate $10,000 a year to a charity? Ridiculous. Christianity is about following the Son of God and living a life like him. Christ wasn’t a passive person. He rocked the world with his teachings, philosophy and power. He was a revolutionary. He didn’t come to Earth to give out blankets. He came to this sinful and depraved world to reconcile us to God. Being transformed by God and Jesus should drive you to help others, not be the beginning of the journey. It’s not the end goal. Christianity is about living for God, not living to give away your things.
Declare fealty to George W. Bush… Liberalism at it’s finest. History has shown that a protracted war has a negative effect and it’s exhausting for this country. It kills morale; not good for a country like ours where we are culturally divided and out for ourselves; selfish. Maybe you haven’t noticed, but most of those countries that really hate us are intolerant of our FREEDOM, not of our religion.
This is the same rhetoric any hippie-loving future immigrant to Canada would say about the Selective Service. You have rights, you have a place to grow and raise your family. You know what, don’t fight, be an ‘objector’ but I don’t want to hear any bitching when your grandchildren are speaking Chinese, German, Guatemalan or whatever the language of the century is. Grab a gun and go defend the place that offers you freedom and solace. Fight well and maybe you’ll live. Maybe you’ll die, but stop being a selfish freedom-loving hypocrite that thinks you’re above civilization or that “if we disarm, they will disarm.” Go try that one out on France and see how fast you’d be speaking German (sorry Germany but you DID have a part in killing six million Jews among other things).
Personally I’m tired of the liberalism and the atheist agenda. Why should I have to only practice my religion in a church. Will I soon have to act like a Christian in China; hide my faith and secretly meet and avoid the police? That’s where we will be if we don’t fight to keep our rights to practice our faith.
