Tyler Z. and I took a dude’s night out and went to see Mel Gibson’s Apocalypto (official movie site) imdb here. It was actually very good, gory and visceral, but less so than The Passion Of the Christ. I recommend it for any guy out there who doesn’t think his wife or girlfriend will like it.
We were both pretty tense just watching the movie. It starts out a little slowly but once it has you it doesn’t let you go. It’s definitely worth seeing and I kinda want to see it again.
Think Gladiator or Braveheart when you think about Apocalypto. The protagonist is Jaguar Paw, a young husband and father whose life is thrown into chaos when his village is attacked by a warring tribe. The action is gritty, the acting very commendable.
After about five minutes I didn’t even realize I was reading subtitles any longer; the language spoken in the movie is Yukatek Mayan language.
