WoW…It’s Gone Again…

by jason on December 17, 2006

I have to admit, I like MMORPGs but I really haven’t liked enjoyed any since Star Wars: Galaxies. I started SWG on launch day and played it for a couple years. I started World of WarCraft on launch day and played for several months before quitting. I went back to SWG; even though it still sucked.

So once more I started World Of Warcraft again a few months ago. I played on and off and got really into it. Then realized that I wanted to quit for the same reasons I did before. I found myself playing less and less.  Let me list some of my reasons.

  • No individuality — Everyone has my stuff
  • No real development — Sure, you can differentiate but you’re all clones of a prototype
  • Cartoonish Graphics — An appeal to some people, but to me I want some reality
  • No exploration — Sure it’s cool to get into a new area but it all feels the same, even with weather
  • Instances — I’m almost an enemy of them. They don’t help the community as a whole
  • Boredom — I burn myself out and realize that I don’t like it for the same reasons
  • Guild CRAP — Everyone has it, unfortunately.

What do I want in a game I’m paying to play…

  • I want to explore
  • I want to be an individual, as much as possible
  • Exploring new areas and killing new mobs
  • Realistic graphics. Doesn’t need to be doom, but elves don’t need 24″ ears
  • Less Instances — Please, keep the community alive
  • Good guild management tools
