I have to admit, I like MMORPGs but I really haven’t liked enjoyed any since Star Wars: Galaxies. I started SWG on launch day and played it for a couple years. I started World of WarCraft on launch day and played for several months before quitting. I went back to SWG; even though it still sucked.
So once more I started World Of Warcraft again a few months ago. I played on and off and got really into it. Then realized that I wanted to quit for the same reasons I did before. I found myself playing less and less. Let me list some of my reasons.
- No individuality — Everyone has my stuff
- No real development — Sure, you can differentiate but you’re all clones of a prototype
- Cartoonish Graphics — An appeal to some people, but to me I want some reality
- No exploration — Sure it’s cool to get into a new area but it all feels the same, even with weather
- Instances — I’m almost an enemy of them. They don’t help the community as a whole
- Boredom — I burn myself out and realize that I don’t like it for the same reasons
- Guild CRAP — Everyone has it, unfortunately.
What do I want in a game I’m paying to play…
- I want to explore
- I want to be an individual, as much as possible
- Exploring new areas and killing new mobs
- Realistic graphics. Doesn’t need to be doom, but elves don’t need 24″ ears
- Less Instances — Please, keep the community alive
- Good guild management tools
- Is that too much to ask? I’m waiting for Vanguard: Saga Of Heroes… Until then, Guild Wars: Nightfall.
