Tuesday I drove Emma back to her mom’s in San Antonio. We didn’t get out of Omaha until 1030 AM; the battery in the car was dead and I couldn’t buy one on Christmas Day.
I started an audio blog for the trip but may not post it until I clean up the audio a bit. I took a few snapshots of the trip.
It’s amazing how much more comfortable I feel travelling with technology. I took my Garmin E-map handheld GPS, two map print outs, a Rand McNally Road Atlas, my laptop with MS Streets and Trips 2007 to ensure that I had my route-finding gear. I also took the iPod, my Nikon camera and two separate cell phones!
We left at 1030 AM on Tuesday and arrived in San Antonio at 0230 hours the next morning. I dropped Emma off and crashed at a La Quinta up the road for five hours before heading back. I spent 31 out of 48 hours driving.
Plane tickets were just too pricey. I didn’t have confirmed dates for Emma until a few days prior and tickets for a plane were outrageous.
I’ll post more when I don’t want to take a nap. I hope everyone is having a good holiday season and looking forward to the new year!
