So many of the liberals in the US are up-in-arms over Newt Gingrich’s comments regarding bilingualism requirements. I guess no one likes his analogy that supporting bilingual communications is supporting the language of the ghetto.
Honestly, I think he’s right on the money. If you are required to take an English test to be a citizen of the country you can vote in English. This is the United States of America. Our forefathers spoke English, we speak English. You’re more than welcome to speak Spanish, French, Tagalog, Romanian, or whatever else you want to speak. That should be your second language, and the second language of your family. If you are of Russian descent, I don’t care if you speak Russian, but we, as Americans, should not have to cater to every other language and culture and we should embrace our own.
I’m not supporting xenophobia, nor am I supporting the supremacy of any one race, ethnic culture or creed. What I do champion is the belief that the USA is an English-speaking country that encourages immigrants to learn our language and culture.

I couldn’t agree more. It is my firm belief that if you want to live in our country, your primary language should be English, you should sing our national anthem in English and all of our road signs should be in English. If you want to live here, adapt to us.
