Pain In The Power Steering…

by jason on April 11, 2007

My truck bleeds. Or, at least it did. It practically purged power steering fluid.

I took her to the mechanic three times to get it fixed. He told me “Well, when power steering fluid gets cold it froths up. Looks like it spills out of the cap.” Seriously. Why don’t the other million people in Omaha have to do this, then.

So over the winter I was putting a quart of power steering fluid in every month. On the fourth time to the mechanic (I get free maintenance from the dealer for oil changes, warranty parts, etc) I reminded them that Nebraska has a lemon law. I was sick and tired of spilling fluids all over the roads, parking lots and driveways of Omaha.

Finally, after much drama, the dealer finally replaced the power steering pump and reservoir. The Gray Dragon no longer groans, moans, shimmies and shakes when I drive. Hooray!
