Infa-blogger John Chow posted an interesting article today called “What’s holding you back from Blogging?”
His challenge, spend 20 days writing one post a day to help get into the habit of blogging. The second part of his challenge, write a follow-up post to what actually holds the reader/blogger back from blogging.
I find that I am probably the biggest thing holding myself back. Simply put — I’m too easily misled by other things then I am blogging. I’m too easily satisfied by something else that distracts me. This could be caused by my “real” job or a side-project or a lack of interest in anything to post. Quantity doesn’t always contain quality. It’s easier, of course, to write when I’m in the mood.
There are a few things I can do about this. Namely:
- List possible blog topics
- Outline each topic
- Write multiple enties for days when I am unable to write
- Repeat for each blog
- Use productivity chains
I should use productivity chains to perform the above steps. A good start will be to accept John Chow’s goal to write one entry every day for 20 days.
