Read this article about, once again, how evil the Bush administration is. For the purpose of my diatribe I am going to make myself very clear.
I personally condemn how Saudi Arabia has handled the rape of one of it’s citizens. Criminalizing the victim is stupid. Blaming her for not having a male escort while in public, though logical in their mind, is backwards as well as barbaric. A woman should not have to worry for her safety in a ‘civilized’ country.
Moving on.
Anyone who thinks that George W. Bush makes every decision in the daily role of government is a fool. That’s why the president has a cabinet, as well as many secretaries, political appointee’s, etc etc. Throw blame at your idiotic Democrat-controlled government that hasn’t “brought the troops home” after their election into office a year ago. Way to use an agenda and get absolutely nothing accomplished. Hooray for Pelosi.
To touch on my final point; if we stick our nose into a rape case in Saudi should we not expect them, and every other country in the world, to bitch to us about OUR legal system? Seriously, if you’re going to throw mud you should expect it to come flying back. It’s not our business how every country handles their legal system.
I’ll agree with you that we have stuck our noses into plenty of mud pies, but there has to be a limit. The same group who complains to us one moment that our troops should not be the global police are the same people who think we need to stick our fingers into Saudi Arabia’s cookie jar.
Pull yourself together and let Saudi handle it’s own laws. This isn’t a case of human rights abuses. No one was bitching when she was going to get 90 lashes and six months in jail. It sucks, I wish she didn’t have to suffer through punishment for a bullshit law, but it’s not our job as American’s to tell everyone what their business is. If you think so I hope you’re not someone who is complaining about the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan.
